Hello guest
Your basket is empty
We are sad to announce the passing of Winifred Audrey Armstrong ( Southgate) at the age of 94 years in June of this year in Townsville, Queensland, Australia.
Audrey was a student at Bedford from 1947 to 1950 and a lecturer for a very short period of time in 1965 (she resigned before she started because she was to marry a dairy farmer from New Zealand and was told she would have to work until the end of the year and marriage would have to wait!).
Audrey’s first teaching position was at Croydon High School from 1950 to 1954.
She also taught at schools and universities in the U.K. and N.Z.
Physical Education was a lifelong love of Audrey whether in the formal setting of a school or university or at home encouraging her children, grandchildren and the neighbourhood kids to enjoy all types of sport.
She was always fiercely competitive when playing sport and she loved to win, but enjoyment and fair play were far more important.
Audrey was a great letter writer and kept in touch with a number of fellow students from the late 1940’s.
